Saying goodbye to good friends

We were able to get together one last time with many of our friends here - thanks to a huge effort of Emily Johnson. Burgers, frisbee, gabbing and xeroscaped cakes abounded. We will miss everyone. We feel like we are leaving a part of us behind.

Packing it up

We just found out/decided to pick up and move earlier this week. Our original plan was to stay here in Pgh another year and do a dental implant residency here at the dental school. I had been asked to be the first resident in the brand new program, and implants are something that I am very interested in - I thought it would be great. Well needless to say we waited and waited for the funding to be allocated and it still hadn't come. We looked at our bank account and looked at each other and after alot of prayer we decided to make the move. We were sick of the uncertainty. So right now I am currently sending out feelers to see if anyone is looking for an associate and we'll see what happens. I have some good prospects.

The kids don't know what is going on. All they see is that all their stuff is being sold. We have accumulated a ton of stuff, a ton. And its not like we didn't come out here with any either. A now famous line between Jess and I was when one of my best friends said about our move from AZ to Pgh, "Dude, you got alot of crap." And we still do. We are hoping to make it fit all into the Penske. This time I won't have the master packing skills of Veryl the Grand Master Tetris Champion of the World.

Jess won't be here when I pack the truck and she instinctively knows that if her knick-knacks, (that I hate) were packed in one box together, 'they wouldn't make it'. So she is strategically packing them amongst other things. I am wondering what of my stuff will have the fate of "oh, the kids must have put it in the trash box."

Reese is going to make the trek accross the nation with me. It will be fun to be with Reese but I think the driving will get old come day 3. It will be about 34 hours total driving.

To get rid of our junk we have been selling everything on www.craigslist.com
And we have had really good luck so far. Things are really clearing out of here.

Our plan is that I will pack up everything on July 27th and Jess and the kids will fly to AZ on the 27th. It will take Reese and me about 3 days solid to drive. Then we are going up to southern UT for a Law family reunion, from there Jess and kids will go up to SLC until our rental in AZ becomes available.

See you all soon.
